Mural Restoration

The Old Courthouse gift shop, located on the grounds of
Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, St. Louis, Missouri,
exhibits the mural titled, "Commerce on the Levy in the Early
'80s."

The mural was originally commissioned by the St. Louis Times
newspaper, located on North Tucker in downtown St. Louis,
Missouri. The oil on canvas mural was painted by Oscar
Berninghaus (1874-1952). Sverdrup Corporation donated the
mural to the National Parks in the early 1980's.

Hal P. Blagbrough, ASA., conserved the mural and hung the
mural at the Old Courthouse gift shop in 1985.
